Jack Lake Landscape's award winning garden centre was conceived
and established in 1992 to serve the Apsley area as a place
for "northern gardeners".
We are located in zone 4b on a beautiful piece of the Canadian shield.
This can propose some challenges to those of us attempting to contribute
to the natural beauty of the region with our gardens and landscaping.
However, for any problem you encounter, there's usually a solution. Often
it's as simple as properly amending the soil or choosing the right variety
of plant for the condition.
Our
philosophy has been to take the "guess work" out
for our customers, by continuously seeking and providing new
and proven products and varieties of hardy plants that work.
The following are some of the things you can expect to find
at our garden centre to make your northern gardening experience
more enjoyable:
-
Our famous "iron hardy" perennials. Hundreds
of varieties of beautiful healthy plants. All the old
favourites plus the latest hybrids. All rated from zone
2 to 4, our perennials are not forced in greenhouses.
(You will not find plants that are supposed to bloom in
July, blooming in May.) This allows them to grow at the
proper stage of development for the time of season making
them that much hardier. All our plants come with colour
information tags to help with your selections. 10cm pot
-$2.49, 12cm. pot - $3.99, 1gal. pot - $4.99 & up.
-
The biggest and best selection of annual flowers in the
area. We bring in a fresh supply every 2 wks. from one
of Ontario's top growers. (May-June). Most 4 pks. - $1.19,
Specialties, vines, trailers, geraniums, new guineas,
begonias, waves, spikes, etc, $2.49.
-
A wide range of evergreen and flowering shrubs, plus
a good selection of native shrubs. Large "caliper"
trees and potted ornamental trees. All varieties are selected
for their hardiness and all are #1 quality nursery stock
from top growers in Ontario and Quebec.
-
Explorer and Parkland Roses. Developed by Agriculture
Canada in Ottawa and Manitoba, these are the toughest
roses available
-
Our garden seed rack is custom designed to include only
vegetable varieties for short seasons. This goes true
for our vegetable plants too. Tomatoes, peppers etc.,
all quick to mature. (4pk. $1.19)
-
A full line of "Pickseed" quality grass seeds,
our custom naturalization mix, plus a complete line of
environmentally friendly fertilizers and pest control
products, and a staff willing to help figure out what
you need.
-
A great hardware section, with all the tools, watering
and pruning supplies, and accessories that you would hope
to find, at "big box" prices.
-
Besides the usual packaged peat moss, compost and mulches,
we also sell the following products either bagged or bulk
/ delivered; washed sand, screenings, pea gravel, river
rock, pine bark mulch and high quality screened triple-mix
topsoil. (check our landscaping materials section for

Well, you get the idea; we like to consider ourselves the
"one stop shop for northern gardeners." Some of
our customers like to come over and wander around our extensive
